Aerio
I took my car into the dealership to have them look at the "service engine soon" light. They found nothing. They gave me a ride back to work after I dropped the car off, and the driver said that one of the causes is not having your gas cap on all the way. When I picked up the car, the guy there confirmed it. Apparently, there's some smog checks going on there. The sensors start to think that there's too much air in the fuel intake and so raises an alarm.
They fixed the keyless remote, or whatever it's called, by replacing it. It cost me $75. I asked about the extended service plan that I purchased (7 years, 100000 miles) and was told that the company that handled that plan had gone out of business in July. That was news to me. Had Suzuki sent out any notices? No, the guy said, but don't blame us mechanics, blame our sales people. Which I will. I'm going to have to call them back.

Service Engine Soon
Well, the mysterious "Service Engine Soon" light came on last Friday. The car continued to behave itself, so I don't know what caused it. I called up Suzuki Depot's service department that day to get an appt to come in, but I had called rather late and ended up getting voicemail. So, I left a message. They never called back. That irks me, but fortunately the light went off eventually. A coworker said that sometimes cold weather affects the engine enough where it might falsely come on. I don't know. I still need to get the remote key fixed, so I'm still going to call them back.

First post to Aerio category
This category's not meant for the general reader, but instead for those interested in the Suzuki Aerio, and specifically, my experiences with my own car.
I was pleasantly surprised to find out that people actually read my Aerio page. I received an email from someone. I'll copy it here and then respond:
Hi Gary. My name is Marianne from Pa. I was actually surfing the Web to find out if there were any reported problems with the Suzuki Aerio SX and brakes. My daughter and I have a 2003 , yellow like yours. What caught my eye with yours was the problem you were having with the trim. Believe it or not, the very same piece right down to the same side came off on ours. So I have to agree with you, Suzuki probably does know about the problem. Now we seem to be going thru brake pads every 10,000 or so miles. I have to say that our car has 27,000 miles on it already. My daughter has been using it for school and work. We have gone thru 2 sets of brake pads already. The dealership explains that this is probably because of all the stop and go driving done, but I was wondering if you've had any problems. We were also told that the remote key has been reported as having problems. This was resolved by the dealership , we just had to turn in the old remote and they replaced it. Front tires needed to be replaced- this was on us. Plus there is only one or two of these manufacturers. Pray you never need them- lowest cost we found was 120.00 per tire. And the window regulator ( power window, drivers side) is also being replaced. Also found at last inspection was a kinked windshield hose somehow done when the fog lights were being installed. Don't know if any of this is informative to you but we wanted to say we like your website too. The one electric outlet bothers me too <ha!>
My brakes seem to be doing fine. I thought I was having problems with them, because I head a sound like the brakes were wet, and then I noticed later that the brake light came on. Putting two and two together, I thought that maybe some brake fluid was dripping on my brakes, so I took it to the dealer to check. This time 2+2=5, because the dealer found nothing wrong. Said they were in great shape.
I've had problems with the remote as well. Already went through one and just last week the other one went out. I've yet to go to the dealer to get it replaced.
I just got the front tires changed. They cost around $100 apiece at Just Tires. I guess I hadn't rotated them enough. My car had around 44000 miles on it at the time. That's ok, though. The originals were crap. It was very easy to make them slip and screech even at relatively low speeds when cornering.
Otherwise, the car's been running great.
