Summary

Moiraine POV � Moiraine and Siuan begin taking names while Steler keeps order. Most of the people in the camp are from Murandy. Siuan amplifies her voice with Air and Fire to shout for order. Lady Meri do Ahlan a'Conlin presents her recently born son Sedrin. She claims to be a direct descendent of the First Queen of Murandy Katrine do Catalan a'Coralle. Careme Mowly has her recently born daughter Ellya. Moiraine takes pity on Susa Wynn and her son Cyril Wynn even though he is clearly several months old. Her husband Jac Wynn was killed before the fighting even began. Moiraine recalls Verin lecturing an Accepted class on local healers. Another woman has a baby Danil. Early afternoon they see two Aes Sedai ride into the camp. They are Meilyn Arganya with her Warder Andro and Elaida a'Roihan. Elaida has been advisor to the Queen of Andor for nearly three years. Moiraine starts to explain their presence, but Meilyn says cats in Seleisin know about the Amyrlin's order by now. Meilyn reminds them to be back in the White Tower before dark. Elaida defers to Meilyn surprising Moiraine.1 Elaida promises to visit, dismaying both Accepted, then they ride off to the next camp. Moiraine and Siuan finish a bit late and they have to hurry back to the White Tower. Grooms take Arrow and Siuan's horse. Steler orders his men including Malvin to take care of their horses. The Accepted return to their rooms hoping for a bath and a hot meal, but Katerine is waiting with a summons for Moiraine from Merean, the Mistress of Novices. Merean tells Moiraine that King Laman and both his brothers, Moressin and Aldecain, were killed yesterday. Merean seems to expect Moiraine to grieve for her uncles, but they were cruel, ambitious men who held her father2 in contempt. Merean tells Moiraine that she is to stay in the White Tower tomorrow instead of going out with the other Accepted, but Moiraine begs to be allowed to go. Back in her room, she shields her dreams3 and tries to sleep but has nightmares of the Dragon Reborn. She goes to Siuan's room and finds her also awake. They discuss what the White Tower could do when they find him. Verin taught them that most mistakes made by rulers happen because they do not know history. She also taught that women cannot teach men to channel or vice versa. Neither of them sleeps that night.
