High Lord Astoril of House Damara

A Tairen High Lord now in retirement. His daughter is Medore Damara.

Physical Description

He is an elderly man with an oiled beard, trimmed to a point. His face is creased and his shoulder-length hair is snow white and thinning, but his back is straight and his dark eyes are sharp. He wears a coat with red-and-blue striped sleeves. (KoD,Ch21)

• High Lord Astoril leads the forces of Tear during the Aiel War. (Guide)
• High Lord Astoril joins High Lord Darlin in the Stone of Tear defending against the rebellion. (CoT,Ch23)
• Rand visits High Lord Darlin, Lady Caraline and Alanna in the Stone of Tear. Astoril, Anaiyella and Weiramon are with them. Rand orders Darlin to raise an army to take to Arad Doman. Bera arrives with news that the rebels will settle if Darlin is made King of Tear. (KoD,Ch21)

• TSR,Ch2 - While Mat, Baran, Edorion, Estean and Reimon play cards, Edorion asks Estean which of Astoril's daughters he will marry. Estean says maybe Medore. She has pretty maids.
• WH,Ch6 - Medore Damara is Astoril's daughter. Even so, she acquiesces to Selande who is only a minor Cairhienin noble.
